I worked as little children's teacher in Brazil for about seventeen years and have been working at University Carillon United Methodist Church Nursery for two years. I have a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Christian Counseling. I enjoy working at UCUMC because of my love for children and all special people who attend the church. I enjoy learning alongside with the children I teach. I have three children and four grandchildren. My favorite hobbies include walking, swimming, reading, and traveling. Italian, Brazilian and Greek are my favorite cuisines. My favorite tv shows are Oprah, Gospel programs and Sport. My dream as a child was to be a teacher of little children and to someday visit and live in the USA and my dream has come true!

Jessica Hecker - Teacher

I am married and we have two wonderful girls. I enjoy spending time with my family and reading. I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from the University of Florida. Before I decided to become a stay-at-home Mom, I taught Kindergarten and First grade in Seminole County. I also had some experience teaching in a preschool setting when we lived in Virginia. My older daughter started UCP when she was three years old. I then had an opportunity to be a substitute teacher while she attended UCP for two years. I loved working with the staff and the families here so much that I decided our younger child should also attend UCP. I have been blessed with a position teaching two year olds this year. I enjoy working with young children and look forward to a wonderful year.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Brian. We have two awesome boys. Our older son, Matthew, attended UCP for two years and is now in Kindergarten. Our younger son, Noah, is a three year old at UCP.

I was born and grew up in southeastern PA. After I graduated from West Chester University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, I moved to FL. While working with three and four year olds, I earned my CDA. I taught Kindergarten in a private school and first grade in Pinellas County.

I am looking forward to returning to teaching after staying home for the last six years. I am so blessed to be a part of your child’s life.

Karla Leyte-Vidal - Teacher

My name is Karla Leyte-Vidal, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I've been married for nine years and have three wonderful kids. Esteban (5) graduated from UCP and Sergio (3) and Camille (21 months) are attending the preschool and nursery. I worked for five years in the veterinary field before I decided to stay at home with my kids.

Now, I feel blessed with the opportunity to work for UCP as a support for the two year olds and as the Spanish teacher.

My goal is to provide positive experiences for the kids to learn and develop enthusiasm towards a second language, Spanish.

Kellie Mitchell - Teacher

I was blessed to become part of the UCP staff in January 2009. Prior to joining UCP, I was a 3 year old and Pre-K teacher at Prairie Pals Preschool in Oswego IL. My husband, Spencer, our two boys, and our three dachshunds and I were lucky enough to move to Oviedo in August 2008. I am so grateful to be able to continue with my love for teaching preschoolers in such an awesome Christian environment!
